Florida State Requirement Details for Broker Real Estate Post-Licensing Education

Continuing Education and License Renewal Date: 3/31 and 9/30 every two years. The date you renew depends on when you initially took your licensing exam.

Hours Required by the State: 60 hours within 18-24 months after obtaining the initial license. Broker's and Sales Associates' must complete the post-license education prior to the first renewal following initial licensure or their license will be considered null and void.

License Renewal Process: New licensees are not required to complete the 14 hours of CE in addition to the 60 hours of post-licensing, as those courses will not be accepted by the state. The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew.

Please note: All courses must be COMPLETED AND REPORTED to the Florida Real Estate Commission, PRIOR to your license expiration date.  Please allow ample time for course completion and reporting to the state, otherwise your license could go on inactive status.

Post-Licensing Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 75% and may be taken twice in order to pass. Licensees will be allotted 1.8 minutes per question. Licensees have up to 1 year, after failing the first exam to complete a second attempt. There are 50 questions on the exam and students are allowed 90 minutes to complete.

Reporting: The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten business days.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in your account.

Certificates: Once The CE Shop has received the signed affidavit, your certificate of course completion will become available to download (and via email).  The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic certificate of completion, upon completion of the course. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license application to determine if you need to submit your certificate of completion with your license request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your certificate of completion will reflect this.
